Phee Paradise

Phee Paradise is a storyteller. Kipling’s quote, “The story’s the thing,” is her literary guiding light. She focused her BA (English) and her MA (Communication) studies on literature and cultural narratives. By day, she encourages her public speaking students to tell their own stories. She devotes her other hours to sharing God’s Great Story of Hope through writing, reading voraciously, and studying the Bible with friends.

Phee’s story

I’m a third-generation missionary kid. My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were missionaries. Farther back in my family tree are a church planter, a Methodist circuit rider and even a doctor to David Livingstone. I grew up in Guatemala where I did fun things like live at summer camp, go to boarding school, and climb volcanoes.

My history has given me lots of stories to tell, including my grandparent’s story in A Sincere Heart: One Mission Minded Man Serving His Utmost in China. I also helped my father tell some of his stories about Guatemalan missions by editing Miracles at Midnight.

Such a rich heritage is a blessing, but God brought me to an individual faith. One way I summarize what I believe is through the Five Solas. I have been saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.

I’ve never been a missionary, but I’ve taught Sunday School for 50 years because I love kids. So now I’m writing a book for tweens, The Letter Box.

My family is my great joy and I’m blessed to live in Florida with my husband near children and grandchildren. Psalm 1 has always been my comfort, guide and hope. My daily prayer is that as I meditate on scripture, I will be like a fruitful tree by a river.
